Sudan is at a critical moment in its history.
On 9 January 2010, Sudanese communities and activists around the world are joining together to call on international leaders to take urgent diplomatic action to prevent an escalation of conflict in Sudan that could lead to massive human rights violations
9 January 2010 also marks the fifth anniversary of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, which signaled the end of the civil war. Millions were killed. Millions were displaced. Millions suffered dire human rights abuses.
And one year on from 9 January 2010 – in 365 days – a referendum is due to be held to determine the future of Sudan.
But there is a real danger that war will return. Violence is on the increase in Southern Sudan and in Darfur millions continue to suffer daily in camps.
Join Sudan365: join thousands of people across the world by drumming along to a global beat for peace in Sudan.
The beat will start in Sudan and will be echoed by people from all over the world: from Nairobi to New York, London to Tokyo.
Famous drummers from Radiohead, The Police, Pink Floyd, Snow Patrol and the legendary musicians Mohammed Munir, Yehia Khalil and Mustaffa Tettey Addy are all joining the beat.
